The gates at the Monett Speedway are set to open Sunday, April 5. Weekly racing will include the USRA Modifieds with gates opening at 5 p.m. and racing at 7.
In what may be a first in organized racing, three of the four drivers that captured the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series titles in 2007 repeated the feat in 2008. Brad Waits captured his second straight USRA Modified crown, while the same can be said for Tom Schmitt (USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars) and Matt Jones (USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mods). Jason McDaniel (USRA Hobby Stocks) won his first title after finishing second last year.
USRA Modified action Sunday saw Jason Meadors and Johnny Bone Jr. race side by side for 5 laps. With Meadors using the high groove and Bone on the bottom, Meadors had a slight lead until Bone took the lead on lap 6. From there, Bone cruised home to take the win and the points title.
