HMT doubles up in the Sunflower State

GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (September 16, 2025) – The USRA Heartland Modified Tour is set for a huge weekend of racing in the Sunflower State with back-to-back shows at two of Kansas’ premier dirt ovals.

It all begins Friday night, September 19, at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas, where drivers will battle for a $2,000 top prize and $350 to start the A-Main. Local standout Nic Bidinger will be looking to defend his home turf after capturing last year’s Heartland Modified Tour win at Lakeside. Last season, Bidinger was a full-time series regular, but in 2025 he elected to chase a track championship at Lucas Oil Speedway — a move that paid off when he clinched the 2025 Lucas Oil Speedway Modified track title earlier this year.

The action shifts on Saturday, September 20, to 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas, for the prestigious Dalice Franz Memorial. This year’s edition ups the ante with $2,586 to win and $400 to start the A-Main. Last year’s Dalice Franz Memorial was held in May with Rodney Sanders taking the victory, but Sanders is not expected to be in attendance this time around. Tyler Wolff, winner of last year’s September 81 Speedway stop, and Tanner Mullens, who won at 81 Speedway earlier this season, will both be among the favorites this weekend.

With only a handful of races remaining, the Heartland Modified Tour championship chase is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in series history. Series rookie Bobby Williams leads the standings with 1,424 points, but the margin is razor-thin with the top five drivers separated by less than 100 points.

Williams holds a 28-point advantage over Brandon Givens, who scored his first career series victory earlier this summer and has been a model of consistency since. Wyatt Gaggero sits just 50 points back in third, while rookie Shadren Turner remains well within striking distance heading into this pivotal weekend. With Bidinger, Wolff, and Mullens all in the mix alongside the series regulars, fans can expect two nights of intense wheel-to-wheel action.
