From the inception of the USRA Heartland Modified Tour Presented by Real Racing Wheels, there have only been a few drivers to make all the shows. Saturday night at I-35 Speedway, Dakota Dale, one of those drivers, hit the jackpot. Driving his Mullens Chassis, Dale was not only fast, but smooth and patient.

Late in the race, Friday's winner Shadren Turner was rolling out front. It looked like he might walk away with a weekend sweep. Then mechanical gremlins intervened, and the Midwest Sheet Metal Yellow flew when Turner slowed while leading.

“I just have to thank all the amazing people who help me on this thing,” said an excited Dale in Victory Lane. “I learned a lot about three and four right there in the first lap and about gave it away right there. I wasn't the fastest race car tonight. Shadren had us beat. Heartbreaker for those guys.”

Dale assumed the lead and held onto it through the Hochatown Saloon Last Call. Right behind Dale there was a furious scrum for second. Bobby Williams put the charge in his Skyrocket and nearly clipped Brandon Givens at the VP Checkers. The distance between the two at the line was less the four hundredths of a second. The two each recorded their best finish of the season with the tour.

For Dale the win is also his first ever in Outlaw Style Modified action. He won a couple limited field events, but it was a career night for the young up and coming racer.

Turner's misfortune tightened the points drastically, although early in the season. He is still the leader by 18 markers over Brandon Givens. Tad Davis is third. Dale sits in fourth and Jason Pursley rounds out the top five. Those top five positions are separated by less than 50 points.

Next up for the tour, it's back to Kansas. This time it will feature Salt City Racing in Hutchinson, Kansas on Friday, April 25 and Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kansas on Saturday, April 26.
