Championship Weekend on Deck

A season's worth of racing comes down to one final weekend for the inaugural season of USRA Heartland Modified Tour Presented by Real Racing Wheels competition. Friday marks the first stop by the tour to Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri. Championship Saturday night moves up the road to I-35 Speedway in Winston, Missouri for the second stop of the year.

Valley Speedway will boast an elevated purse Friday night courtesy of Lies Trash Service. Competitors will see a $3,000 winners share and $400 just to qualify for the feature. There will not be an elevated entry, above the standard $125, for the event either. Mufflers are mandatory and will be teched at Valley Speedway. Teams with any questions are encouraged to reach out to series partner and director Erick Chesterman ahead of the event.

Saturday will cap the year back at Mike and Kyle Johnson's I-35 Speedway. Several track partners have stepped up to ensure this event could happen. Those include; Carpenter's Classics “An Auction Company,” Rod End Supply, KS Engineering, Shane Roach Concrete & Construction, Larry McFee Trucking and Hwy 36 Auto & Diesel.

Back on June 8, Tyler Hibner won the HMT event at I-35 Speedway. He was followed to the checkers by Tyler Wolff and Kyle Slader, with 38 cars in attendance that night. Since then he's won an additional 10 features at the track and holds down the points lead. Wolff has won three of the last four series races and is leading the tour points.

“It's been an electric year with the Heartland Modified Tour,” said series director Erick Chesterman. “From Humboldt back in April all the way to championship weekend on the horizon, we could not have asked for a better season. The racers, tracks, fans and sponsors have really put their best foot forward this year for this tour and we are so thankful! I can't wait till Friday night and we get to do it one last weekend for this year!”

Tyler Wolff is leading the way in the championship standings, with a 107 point advantage over second place Chad Wheeler. Brandon Givens rides in third, with Henry Chambers and Tad Davis completing the top five.

Racing is slated for 6 PM both nights, with hot laps scheduled just prior. For those unable to attend, RacinDirt will have live coverage of both events.
