KC Area Shows Highlight Heartland Weekend

A pair of Kansas City area tracks are on the docket this weekend, for the stars of the USRA Heartland Modified Tour Presented by Real Racing Wheels. Friday, the tour makes it's only stop of the season at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas.

An hour up the road is the home for Saturday's event, at I-35 Speedway in Winston, Missouri. It will mark the first of two visits to Mike and Kyle Johnson's speedway. They are also slated to host championship night this fall.

Lakeside has long been a staple for the USRA Weekly Championship Series and hosts many national and regional events, across multiple divisions annually. I-35 is a staple track in USRA boasting one of the largest event schedules and is a former home of the USRA Nationals, as is Lakeside.

“Both tracks were quick to support the new tour and we're really looking forward to a great weekend,” said Series Director Erick Chesterman. “The support we have received from our host tracks, racers and USRA has blown me away this season. I just want to take a second and say huge thank you to everyone, who has played a role so far.”

For Saturday's event at I-35 Speedway the track secured sponsorship from Team Spray Foam and Generational Buildings LLC. The USRA Heartland Modified Tour Presented by Real Racing Wheels would like to thank both sponsors for their support of the race.

Coming into the weekend, Tyler Wolff holds a narrow 18 point lead over Chad Wheeler in the season long points battle. Brandon Givens, Henry Chambers and Dakota Dale fill out the balance of the top five.

Through seven events so far, there have been five different winners. Terry Phillips is the only driver to capture the VP Racing Fuels Checkered Flag on multiple occasions. The most recent winner is Joe Duvall who won a wildly entertaining feature two weeks ago in Salina, Oklahoma.

Both events will be carried live on RacinDirt for those unable to make it to either track this weekend.

The USRA Heartland Modified Tour Presented by Real Racing Wheels would like to thank their 2024 season long partners.
