HMT Announces High Limit Diamond Classic Modified Invitational at Lucas Oil Speedway

LUCAS OIL SPEEDWAY AND HEARTLAND MODIFIED TOUR TEAM UP FOR INAUGURAL “HIGH LIMIT RACING DIAMOND CLASSIC MODIFIED INVITATIONAL"
Completing the schedule for the Heartland Modified Tour, officials from Lucas Oil Speedway and HMT have combined efforts to create the “Lucas Oil Speedway Heartland Modified Tour Diamond Classic Modified Invitational” that will run with Brad Sweet and Kyle Larson’s High Limit Racing Diamond Classic Sprint car event on June 28th and 29th.
“Coming in for two nights here to Lucas Oil Speedway, we really felt like we needed to run another division with the High Limit Racing Sprint Cars. Brad, Kyle, and everyone with Flo Racing are focused on High Limit events being fan friendly and driving fan engagement, and that starts with their events being done in a timely manner,” commented Lucas Oil Speedway’s Danny Lorton. “The Heartland Modified Tour had available dates on the schedule to work with, and we wanted to run the modified division, so it made sense for us to work together on this special event.”
An invitational format will be used to select 24 modified drivers to compete alongside the High Limit Racing Sprint Cars both nights. Heartland Modified Tour officials intend to invite drivers who have not missed an HMT race up to that point in the season and/or remain in championship points contention. HMT officials will cap their invites to a maximum of 16 cars, if more than 16 drivers have made every race.
All remaining invites will be chosen by Lucas Oil Speedway. Speedway officials have indicated they will consider top track championship points drivers from both the 2023 and current 2024 seasons, as well as consider making random at large invites to fill out the balance of the field.
A complete driver roster will be approved by both Lucas Oil Speedway and Heartland Modified Tour officials before being sent out. The standard HMT A-Feature payout of $2,000 to win / $250 to start with a $125 entry fee to the Heartland Modified Tour applies for each night. Heartland Modified Tour officials will award show up points to all cars in attendance both nights, as well as awarding the same show up points to any driver outside of the top 16 who did not receive an invite, but who have made every previous HMT race up to that point in the season.
From series director Erick Chesterman, “This is such a high-profile event for us to be a part of, we can’t thank Lucas Oil Speedway, Danny Lorton, his entire staff, and the High Limit Series as well, enough for letting us be a part of such an amazing event. We want to put together a roster of the best talent Lucas Oil Speedway, the Heartland Modified Tour, and the Midwest region has to offer. On the series end of things, if we are blessed to have more than 16 full time drivers, we still want to recognize those that support our series by awarding them the same show up points and keeping them in the championship points chase. It’s the fairest way we know how to go about a show like this, while creating a unique and fun event to look forward to during our inaugural season. As we’ve said before, being able to hold an event at Lucas Oil Speedway gives our series validity we may not have otherwise had. Getting to be a part of this event just sends that into the stratosphere.”
Due to the invitational format, Lucas Oil Speedway officials have indicated they will not award track championship points, nor will this event be eligible for USRA National points per USRA rules. Also, this will be the only event during the Inaugural Heartland Modified Tour schedule that will not be available live on RacinDirt.com. Flo Racing will have the stream rights to the entire live event, and RacinDirt.com will have the modified portion of the program available on their website archive library after the completion of the weekend.
